The use of the light blue stands out and draws your attention to the writing. The numbers are in a bold font allowing you to go straight to the figures to read the summarised information. The picture being in black and white helps it to stand out even more. It makes the image more contrasting. It is a strong image as it has an even amount of space around the model, she is central suggesting that your attention is supposed to be drawn to her. Lana's facial expression is engaging to the audience. I think it draws in a male audience because the facial expression she is pulling is quite seductive.
I like the arrangement of having the image on one page then the article on the next, so I will have this in mind when I make my own double page spread.
Moreover, I like the use of the blue box containing statistics/ important information as it breaks up the long article and picks out certain parts.

I think that the Nicki Minaj double page spread is aimed to a female audience. I think this because the colour scheme is very pink which is typically a girly, feminine colour. Also the use of the word icon on her rings suggests this too because it implies she is a role model. This is because she is a very strong independent woman who lots of girls look up to. Who includes a lot of lyrics in her songs about women empowerment.
